A young boy from Sterling reported missing Monday night was found after nearly two hours of searching.

According to the Alaska State Trooper dispatch on the incident, a 9-year-old boy was first reported missing in the Sterling area just before 9:00 p.m. Monday night, June 17. Searchers from Alaska State Troopers, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Central Emergency Services, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and numerous neighborhood volunteers responded to the area to aid in conducting a search.

The dispatch states, “At approximately 2230 hours, the juvenile was located unharmed and reunited with his family.”

This comes less than a month after a similar incident in Sterling in which a young girl was reported missing but found after a couple of hours of searching. EMS responders located the missing girl in that instance, who had also wandered away from her home. She was found a few miles away from there and was reported safe and unharmed.

An investigation into Monday night’s incident indicated that the boy had gotten lost in the woods while playing.
