2015 the Year to Build on the Kenai

It’s been an unusual winter with some unexpected twists in state finances, but Jeff Warton with Spenard Builder’s Supply said conditions are just right for building…

Warton: “Right now there’s more production than demand for building materials and that tends to keep the prices lower. One of the reasons the demand is low in the Lower 48 anyway, is they’re having terrible weather, whereas we have good weather for building. It’s not your typical winter here in Alaska.”

Across the country, single family homes are proving less popular with builders than multi-family apartments or duplexes, but Warton said the Kenai Peninsula’s market remains fairly even…

Warton: “We remain one of the state’s hot spots for affordability, which means that the average person can get into an average home much easier than anywhere else in the state. So we have solid home values, we have low interest rates for lending and all of that is good for the consumer.”

To accommodate the early spring and busy summer, Warton said the annual Home Show will be March 28 this year instead of April.
