21-Year-Old Soldotna Man Identified As The Suspect From July 2020 Restaurant Theft

Alaska State Troopers updated a report from July 7, 2020 of an alleged break-in at the Schnitzel Bomber located on East Poppy Lane. At the time, troopers responded to the scene and an investigation revealed someone damaged the property while entering the building and reportedly stole items from inside. The original report indicated that $300 in items were stolen.

 

Alaska State Troopers seized other items that had a probability of having the suspect’s fingerprints on them, which were sent to the state crime lab for analysis. It was revealed this year that the prints were positively identified as those belonging to 21-year-old Joseph Marotta of Soldotna. Marotta was contacted by Alaska State Troopers and admitted to entering the building and stealing the items. He was charged with 2nd degree burglary, 4th degree criminal mischief and 3rd degree theft.

 

It wasn’t revealed in the Alaska State Trooper online report what was originally stolen.

 

This isn’t Marotta’s first run-in with the law, in October 2019, he was arrested for theft and burglary charges for allegedly stealing swords.
