The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported 27 new positive COVID-19 cases in their Sunday update, including eight in the Kenai Peninsula Borough. Three cases are in Kenai, two in Homer, one in Soldotna, one in Anchor Point, one listed as the Kenai Peninsula Borough, 12 in Anchorage, four in Wasilla, and three in Eagle River.
The number of active cases of COVID-19 patients in the state is 82. This marks the first time the active case-count has topped 80 since April 20 when the active count was 88.
Also, one new nonresident case was identified in a seafood industry worker in the Dillingham Census Area. After further investigation, the Homer case reported for May 29 has been determined to be a visitor, rather than a resident of Alaska, so it was subtracted from the total Alaska state case total. The state total is now 460.
No new deaths have been reported, with that total remaining at ten fatalities.
Of the new cases, 14 are male and 13 are female. Four are aged 10-19, five aged 20-29, three aged 30-39, three aged 40-49, three aged 50-59, four aged 60-69, two aged 70-79, and three aged at 80 or older.
These cases are reported using the state’s timetable of reporting counts: 12:00 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. on May 30.
