338 New COVID-19 Cases And 20 New Hospitalizations Reported On Friday

Alaska reported 338 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday along with 20 new hospitalizations, according to the state department of health and social services. The average daily percentage of daily positive tests for the previous seven days is 7.01%.

 

There were 313 cases reported among state residents. They include 27 cases in Homer, 15 in Soldotna, 11 in Seward, 6 in Anchor Point, 5 in Kenai, and 1 in Kenai Peninsula Borough North. Additionally, there were 25 new nonresident cases reported in Alaska with 2 reported in Soldotna.

 

There have been a total of 1,808 resident hospitalizations and 395 resident deaths, with 20 new hospitalizations and no new deaths reported yesterday. There currently are 116 patients diagnosed with COVId-19 who are hospitalized and one additional patient who is considered a person under investigation for a total of 117 current COVID-related hospitalizations. Nine of those reported patients are on ventilators. The percentage of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 10.4%.

 

The current statewide alert level – based on the reported number of cases per 100,000 people over the past 7 days – is high (red) at 289.9. For boroughs and census areas: 23 areas are in the high alert level, of which the Kenai Peninsula Borough is one of them. For the Kenai Peninsula Borough, 252 cases were reported over the past 7 days. The case rate over the last 7 days is 427.60, according to DHSS data.

 

59% of Alaskans 12 and older have received at least their first vaccine dose. 53.1% of Alaskans age 12 and older have been fully vaccinated. 45.1% of the Kenai Peninsula Region is fully vaccinated.
