The final week of the regular season for high school basketball moves into its final day for peninsula 3A programs and peninsula teams are maneuvering for seeding into the upcoming conference tournaments and fine-tuning for a post-season run through March and early April.
Overview
For 3A and 1A peninsula teams, season records will determine placement in the Southcentral and Peninsula Conference tournaments.
3A: Kenai, Nikiski, Homer and Seward are vying for Southcentral Conference South placement.
1A: Ninilchik and Cook Inlet Academy close-out regular season play in preparation of the Wolverines hosting the Peninsula Conference Tournament on March 18-20.
In the 4A Northern Lights Conference , the SoHi Stars will face their first 4A opponents on a three-day road trip to the Valley which opens at Colony on Thursday. The SoHi girls are 14-0 on the season; however, all wins are against 3A opponents and the Stars next three games against Colony, Wasilla and Palmer will be crucial towards seeding for the upcoming Northern Lights Conference Tournament at Colony High School on March 18-20. The SoHi boys will also test themselves against the Valley schools.
