The National Weather Service in Anchorage reports that up to eight inches of snow is expected for parts of the Kenai Peninsula starting Sunday morning.
Forecasters are saying that the next round of long-duration light snow will move into the Western Kenai Peninsula Sunday and continue into Monday. Affected areas include Kenai, Soldotna, Homer and Cooper Landing. The snow will move north along the Peninsula, beginning Sunday morning in Homer and reaching the Kenai/Soldotna area by mid-afternoon. The snow will persist through Sunday night, then gradually taper off from southwest to northeast during the day Monday.
The snow is not predicted to become heavy, but the long-duration light snow will cause roads to become snow covered. Four to eight inches of accumulation are expected by the time the snow ends on Monday. Any blowing snow concern will be confined to right along the coast and the Homer Bluff where winds of up to 20mph may locally reduce visibilities at times.
