Clouds and rain did not deter crowds from the 5th Annual Kenai Peninsula Beer Festival last weekend.

Kenai River Brewing Co-Owner Doug Hogue said this is the festival that they put the most work into…

Hogue: “I like that we’re bringing out some really cool beers for our people, the folks that are supporting us through the whole year. So this is kind of like our big deal, we love doing this Kenai River Beer Fest because it’s our local people.”

Kenai River Brewing was again voted the People’s Choice for Best Brewery for the fourth year in a row.

Over 20 breweries and an estimated 1,200 people congregated in the Soldotna Sports Center Parking lot on Saturday despite the weather turning chillier than forecast.

Hogue said craft brewing festivals give them room to experiment; this year’s ice cream floats allowed their fans to taste Kenai River Brewing’s Breakfast Beer poured over chocolate or vanilla ice cream.

Hogue: “So we’re hoping for a sunnier day but that’s alright, we had enough other stuff that it’s fine.”

Kenai River Brewing plans to break ground on the construction of a new location behind Soldotna’s recently opened Walgreens next week.
