The 66th Annual Soldotna Progress Days Fair: Small Town, Big Dreams! is set to kick off on Friday in Soldotna. The festivities are from Friday, July 21st through Sunday, July 23rd. The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce is helping rally the community together for this big event featuring live music and dance performances, the Progress Days Parade, food, and craft vendors, and more all weekend long.

Maddy McElrea, Executive Director for the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce filled KSRM in on the full slate of festivities begin happening over the weekend;

“Friday, Saturday night we’ll have free live music and a beer garden from 6 to 8. Then on Saturday we hold the Progress Days Parade. So, lineup starts at 9:00 AM at SoHi and the parade ends at the grandstand, which will be in front of the Borough building on Binkley. We’ll be coming down with kids’ activity rides. They’ll have Venom Beast, Meltdown, they’ll have the Bucking Salmon, all kinds of little carnival rides and games, and the Soldotna Chamber will be sponsoring free kids’ activity booths. So, everything that Tons of Fun Entertainment is bringing is ticketed, but the Soldotna Chamber will have free activity booths as well. We’ll have contests going; we’ll have a diaper Derby, and toddler trot contest, a beard and mustache contest, a parent child lookalike contest, and then a pie eating contest. On Friday [there] will be a cosplay contest, and the diaper Derby and toddler trot, and then all of our other contests will take place on Sunday.”
