This is the first call that went out at 4pm…
“This is an evacuation order. The division of forestry has ordered the evacuation for the area of Funny River Road from approximately mile 11 to the end of Funny River and the Salmon Run drive vicinity on both sides of the street. If you are in this area please proceed to the Soldotna sports center on K-Beach road to receive additional instructions and assistance.”
The Red Cross has OPENED a temporary shelter at the Redoubt Elementary School. There will be limited food service tonight, generously provided by XTO Energy.
Be prepared; bring the following items to the shelter:
- Prescriptions and emergency medications
- Foods that meet unusual dietary requirements
- Extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies and other comfort items
- Supplies needed for children and infants, such as diapers, formula and toys Special items for family members who are elderly or disabled
- They should also try to contact their relatives to let them know where they are and how they are doing
