Homer Electric Association has a planned outage scheduled for this Friday, September 12, on the Homer Spit and in Halibut Cove.
Joe Gallagher with HEA said the outage will affect around 300 customers.
Gallagher: “We need to do some maintenance work on the underground primary power line that serves The Spit and the works going to take about 8 hours so we will have power out on the spit from 10pm Friday till approximately 6am Saturday on September 13th. We’re out making contact with the business owners on the spit to make sure everything goes smoothly and again power will be out on the Homer Spit and Halibut Cove beginning at 10pm on Friday and lasting till 6am on Saturday.”
A piece of equipment needs to be maintained on that underground primary and Gallagher said they waited until after the busy summer season and Labor Day to do that maintenance.
