A team with the Alaska LNG project will host a community gathering on Thursday to provide an update.

Local LNG representative Josselyn O’Connor says the meeting aims to prepare attendees for the project’s release of the second draft of 13 resource reports.

O’connor: “So very soon, end of March or early April, we’ll be submitting our next round of resource reports so we’d like to share with the community what types of information will be included in those draft reports, and help them understand how to read these reports.”

She says the Alaska LNG team is always available to answer questions but these reports will be available for those community members who would like to dig into answers a little more.

O’connor: “What the Alaska LNG Project would like to do is to continue the dialogue with the community, thus we’re going to strengthen the project and we’re going to make sure we have the best information available as we make a FEED decision in early 2017. So we’re gong to hold another coffee community gathering on Thursday, January 7, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm and it’s going to be held at the Nikiski Senior Center on Lake Marie.”

The 13 resource reports are broken down into topics like water use and quality, socioeconomic effects, soils, etc. and are part of the process set out by the National Environmental Policy Act.
