The Kenai Outdoor Opportunity Location (KOOL) Committee will continue work Tuesday night to create a presentation for the city council on the feasibility of an event space in Millennium Square.
Committee chair Brian Gabriel says the proposal may take one or two more meetings.
Gabriel: “What we’re going to do is we’re going to take all of the components that we’ve put together for this feasibility study, go over the contents of those components, and then come up with a presentation that we can make to council.
A permanent raised and covered stage is the first component on the priorities list and KOOL members discussed doubling the original proposed 20 by 30 foot stage size during their December meeting.
Gabriel recognized that doubling the size means increasing the cost from the originally estimated $237,000, but says if the council deems the new cost feasible, the committee recommends the larger stage.
City Manager Rick Koch is set to present a draft of that bigger, more expensive stage at KOOL’s Tuesday meeting.
That meeting will begin at 6:30 pm Tuesday, January 12, in the Kenai Public Library.
