Powerball Jackpot Difficult to Win for Alaska and Five Other States

The desire to win the largest Powerball Jackpot ever comes with a unique set of challenges if you live in Alaska or one of the other five states that don’t participate in the drawing.

In the 49th state, you either have to drive the Alcan Highway to Washington or hop on a plane to find a lottery kiosk. In Nevada residents must drive across state boarders and wait in lines, sometimes for hours, in order to purchase a ticket.  And if you’re in Hawaii you either have a very long swim ahead of you or you’ll find yourself on a plane to California in order to win.

Religious beliefs keep the lottery from being available in Utah, Alabama and Mississippi however here in Alaska there are concerns that a lottery wouldn’t pay off in our thinly populated state.

The idea of a lottery in Hawaii has never been approved, and state Casinos in Nevada have no desire for the completion for gambling dollars the lottery would inevitably bring.

None of the six states mentioned have any kind of lottery.
