Mike and Sylvia Dale are hosting a celebration Saturday to thank the community for giving over $25,000 last month after a fire claimed their North Kenai home and two of their 13 Shetland Sheepdogs.

Dawne Kitowski helped set up the gofundme.com account which collected the bulk of the funds…

Kitowski: “This community and all over Alaska and the Lower 48, their friends, have helped in so many other ways than the gofundme. It’s just been amazing.”

Kitowski says the family is so grateful they wanted to throw a community party to meet everyone who gave generously. The celebration will be held this Saturday in the Kenai Kennel Club’s building in Kenai’s Old Sears’ Mall.

Kitowski: “And it will be from 1 o’clock to 3 o’clock. The family will have snacks, punch, and coffee available and I hope everyone can come and visit with Mike and Sylvia.”

The couple and their dogs are living in Sylvia’s mother’s home which had prepared for sale and not occupied. It’s still not clear how the fire began.
