Peters: “The preliminary on-scene investigation suggests that the deceased driver is the one that crossed the center line and caused the collision.  Alcohol does not seem to be a factor. The investigation is still ongoing.”

Troopers earlier identified the deceased as 19-year-old Raquelle Reynolds of Soldotna who was driving a 2007 Equinox which collided with a pickup truck around 5:35am at mile 90 of the Sterling Highway, closing the road for several hours.

59-year-old Randolph Carlyle of Soldotna was driving the pickup, a 2013 Chevy Silverado. He was taken to Central Peninsula Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The highway reopened at 2:16 pm.
