Kasilof bus routes 42 and 44 will resume regular service for the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District on Thursday, January 28.
The bus routes were changed after K-Beach Road in Kasilof was damaged by Sunday’s earthquake.
Shannon McCarthy with the Alaska Department of Transportation detailed the work done to reopen the road.
McCarthy: “They cut up the broken up pavement, they were able to grind it up, they brought in D-1, it’s a type of gravel. They were able to level it out, to be able to provide a good traveling surface on both lanes.”
The initial road closure impact affected transportation in the Kasilof area for bus route 42 which takes students to Skyview Middle School, Soldotna Prep, River City Academy, and Soldotna High School, and route 44 that serves Tustumena Elementary.
