The deadline to submit applications for the Rasmuson Foundation’s Individual Artist Awards is Tuesday, March 1.

Rasmuson Senior Program Manager Jayson Smart says the awards are an opportunity for artists across Alaska to seek funding to help with projects or interests that will further their careers as artists.

Smart: “We have two different types of grants that are available to apply for. One is what we call a project award that is a $7,500 grant that helps with costs to do a short-term project, something that can be done over a one-year period.”

The second grant is…

Smart: “We also have another award we call a fellowship award, which is an $18,000 grant. That grant’s available to artists who are at a mid-career or more of a mature career stage and again it’s to use funds to help invest in themselves as an artist and to help them advance their career further.”

He says each year the Foundation grants about 25 project awards and about ten fellowship awards each year.

There is also the Distinguished Artist Award, where Rasmuson grants $40,000 to one mature artist with a history of creative excellence and accomplishment in the arts.
