Healthcare Task Force Consultants Taking Public Input on Various Options

Work by local government officials, physicians, and consultants to increase healthcare efficiency on the Kenai Peninsula continues and the Borough’s Healthcare Task Force will meet on Wednesday.

The group was created last year by an ordinance appropriating $200,000 for consulting and investigation into the topic. Borough Mayor Mike Navarre brought the idea of the group forward.

Navarre: “I think there’s some gaps that we have here on the Kenai Peninsula. I think that there’s some economies and scale and inefficiencies and as was mentioned in one of the presentations there’s some low hanging fruits that you can get by doing it on a borough-wide basis or combining the service areas.”

Tomorrow(Wednesday, March 30), the consultant agency hired by the Task Force will take public testimony on options for healthcare changes from noon to 1:00 pm at the Borough Assembly Chambers.

After that, a subcommittee for the group will meet at 6:00 pm and the entire Healthcare Task Force will meet in the Borough Assembly Chambers at 6:30 pm.

The Task Force will review options they have compiled to make local healthcare more efficient during those meetings.
