The Monday afternoon accident where a blue Subaru collided with Kenai’s MediCenter was caused by medical boot.
Sergeant Ben Langham investigated the incident…
Sgt. Langham: “The woman that was driving the vehicle was backing out of the MediCenter, she was wearing a boot on her right foot, like a cast. When she backed out of her parking spot, she thought she was pressing the brake but instead she pressed the accelerator, causing her to drive backwards and she turned the wheel which caused her to kind of slide right in between two cars. As she was traveling backwards she struck a parked car, continued on until she struck the side of the building with her driver’s side.”
He says no citation was issued because it was on private property and clearly an accident.
The MediCenter says there is not an estimate of how much damage was caused by the incident yet.
The medical clinic will hold its regular hours on Tuesday, directing patients to enter in an alternate side entrance.
