Homer Electric Association crews will be installing new fuses along their power lines in Nikiski as part of a project they’ve been working on for over a year to make the system more reliable.
HEA’s Joe Gallagher says the work in Nikiski will stretch along the Kenai Spur Highway from milepost 23 to near the end of the road near mile 36.
Gallagher: “As we do the work, it’s possible there may be outages in the neighborhood that the crews are at on any particular day. The outages should be very short, no longer than 30 minutes and once the crews are through, the HEA member will not see another outage related to that work.”
The work in Nikiski will last through the month of May.
Gallagher says crews will attempt to notify residents in the areas of potential outages before they happen.
