A section of the Alaska Highway is closed due to a wildfire in northern British Columbia.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has closed an approximately three-mile stretch of highway in both directions about 28 miles north of Fort St. John. Currently there is no detour in place.
The fire that closed the Alaska Highway is not the same fire that has forced the evacuation of more than 80,000 people from Fort McMurray in Alberta.
The wildfire burning in British Columbia is one of 57 currently burning in the province.
