Stars Baseball Shuts-out Kodiak On Strong Pitching

The Soldotna baseball team improved to 7-1 in league play on the strength of outstanding, starting pitching, recording a pair of victories over the Kodiak Bears.

SoHi 17 – Kodiak 0

Starter Joey Becher threw a five-inning, no-hitter against the Bears on Friday in a 17-0 dismantling of Kodiak. Becher threw only 71 pitches and faced only 17 batters; while recording 11 strikeouts.  The Stars scored 17 runs on seven hits; Kodiak committed five errors.

SoHi 3 – Kodiak 0

Mathew Dougherty recorded a scoreless three-hitter on the mound for the Stars on Saturday against Kodiak.  SoHi scored a pair of runs in the first inning and added a run in the third inning.  Dougerty threw seven inning, 96 pitches allowing three hits and striking out 8 batters.
