The 2016 Southcentral Conference Baseball Tournament concluded Saturday with the Soldotna Stars baseball team earning the conference’s second seed to the upcoming state baseball tournament.
The Soldotna Stars defeated Kenai 17-2 in five innings, earning the Stars the second seed to the ASAA State Baseball Championships. Wasilla is the conference champion defeating SoHi on Friday night 5-0.
Caleb Spence pitched four innings, allowing one run; Calvin Hills pitched one inning and allowed one run.
Kenai advanced to the showdown with SoHi by defeating Colony 8-7 in the early game Saturday. The Kardinals recorded three wins in the final two days of the tournament.
