SoHi Wrestlers Top Field At Jerry Palmer Invitational

The Soldotna wrestling program flexed its collective muscle winning the team title at the state-wide, Jerry Palmer Invitational held at Bartlett High School.

The Stars wrestled-away two individual championships and nine total top-six performances.

SoHi’s Gideon Hutchison went unbeaten to earn the 120-pound division title.  SoHi’s Bechler Metcalf finished undefeated in the 152-pound division.

Other top six results for the Stars included: Logan Craig in second at 98, Brayden Wolfe in third at 126, Logan Schrader in fourth at 145, Hudson Metcalf in second at 152, Talon Musgrave in second at 160, Abraham VanHout in second and Brennen Werner, third at 170 .

Kenai finished sixth in the team scoring. The Kardinals secured three, weight class championships with Jacob Anderson at 138, Keyshawn McEnerney at 160 and Byron Dunham at 182.  Kenai’s Ismael Urtubey and Seth Segura finished fourth in 106 and 113 weight classes.

 

King of the Mountain Duals @ Seward

The Nikiski Bulldogs finished with a 4-4 record in the dual match format at the King of the Mountain wrestling tournament.

The Bulldogs recorded head-to-head wins over Anchorage Christian School, Grace Christian, Nome and Houston.  Nikiski’s Justin Cox recorded an 8-0 record.
