SoHi Boys Finish 4th At State Swim Championships: Star Girls 9th Overall

The Soldotna boys missed the awards podium by a single point, finishing fourth in the team standings at the 2016 ASAA State Swimming and Diving Championships held in the Dimond Aquatic Center in Juneau.  The Star girls finished ninth in the team scoring, following a championship in at the Region III championships.

The SoHi boys were lead by Cody Watkins and Jacob Hall.  Watkins finished second in the 50 freestyle, third in the 100 butterfly and was a member of the Stars 200 medley relay.  Jacob Hall finished second in the 500 freestyle, setting a SoHi school record; 5th in the 200 freestyle and was a member of the Stars 200 medley relay.  Kylin Welch placed fourth overall in the 1M diving competition.

The SoHi boys finished fourth by one point behind Thunder Mountain.  The Kodiak boys captured the team championship, 19 points ahead of runner-up Dimond.

On the girls side, Dimond leads all teams in total points for the 2016 team championship.  The Star girls finished ninth overall with top six finishes by Sydney Juliussen, 5th in the 100 freestyle, a fourth in the 200 medley relay and 6th in the 400 freestyle relay. Kenai’s Mikaela Pitsch placed fifth in the 1M diving.
