Undefeated into the Saturday championship game at the 2016 ASAA 3A State Volleyball Championships, the Nikiski Bulldogs fall in the title showdown to Mt.Edgecumbe.
The Bulldogs and Braves faced-off in the title game, a win for Nikiski and the Bulldogs would be the 3A champions; Nikiski defeated Mt. Edgecumbe on Friday to advance to the title game unbeaten.
Mt. Edgecumbe defeated Nikiski 25-13, 25-12, 25-10 to force a “one game to 30” decisive final.
The Braves win the 3A volleyball state championship with a 30-22 “if necessary” game victory.
Friday Game Results
The Nikiski Bulldogs, on the strength of a five-game victory over Mt. Edgecumbe in Friday’s winner’s bracket round, advance to the championship game for 3A volleyball.
The Bulldogs dropped game one 25-13; won games two and three 25-27, 25-21; Mt Edgecumbe takes game four 25-18 and the Bulldogs win the fifth game 15-8.
Nikiski will play the winner of the Grace Christian vs Valdez game in the ASAA 3A State Volleyball Championship game on Saturday at noon at the Alaska Airline Center at UAA.
