Officer Salao was shot multiple times early last Saturday morning when he was ambushed in downtown Anchorage, after responding to a report that a man refused to pay his cab fare.
The suspect who shot Officer Salao, 40-year-old John Dale Ritchie died in the shootout Saturday morning.
The Colt Python .357 recovered from the scene was linked to five other homicides this summer.
