The Alaska Department of Transportation reminds Alaskans to pass heavy equipment on the road with care, after a plow truck was struck by a car Thursday while trying to pass.

On November 17 around 2:13 pm, Alaska State Troopers responded to milepost 38.0 of the Seward Highway for the report of a vehicle collision.

Investigation revealed 57 year-old Ronnie Rentz of Anchorage, was traveling north on the Seward Highway in a black 2011 Chevrolet pickup.

Rentz attempted to pass a north bound DOT snowplow being driven by 50-year-old Walter Cook of Moose Pass.

Rentz struck the extended plow wing as he passed the snowplow.

No injuries were reported and all occupants reported wearing their safety belts

Impairment was not a factor. Rentz’s vehicle was towed from the scene of the crash.
