Alaska’s license fees for sport fishing, hunting, and trapping will rise next year, bringing them more closely in line to prices for those activities in other states.
The passage of House Bill 137 increased the fees, which was supported by conservation and guiding groups.
The legislation raises hunting license fees from $25 to $45, the first increase in 25 years. Sportsfishing licenses will be raised from $24 to $29.
One of the most significant raises was for nonresident hunting licences, which will almost double to $160.
The new fees go into effect on January 1, 2017.
