Red Run Cannabis Company, the Kenai Peninsula’s first adult-use cannabis retail store and cultivation operation, opens to the public on Monday, November 21st.
The commercial operation is located on the Kenai Spur Highway, between Soldotna and Kenai at Mile 5.5 of the Kenai Spur. Doors are scheduled to open at noon for retail sale.
Eric Derleth, Roger Boyd and Marc Theiler are the owners of the Red Run Cannabis Company.
Derleth explains plans for opening day and products available to the public.
Derleth: “When you get into the store you’ll see a very comfortable retail environment with what we call bud tenders behind the counter and other people there to anwser questions. We have Greatland Ganja’s sun grown products which are local Kasilof growers. We have nine strains and we have some of that strain, the White Widow strain we have in pre-rolled form either one in five packs. So, we’ll also have some accessories like glass products and unfortunately you can’t use an ATM or credit card so you’ll have to bring cash if you’re doing more then browsing.”
Red Run Cannabis Company has completed all of the appropriate licensing for standard cultivation and retail.
Derleth: “We got both of our licenses last week both to have a cultivation facility, a standard cultivation facility, and a retail operation. We will grow and beyond that we can’t produce anything or turn it into anything. We can just sell it to retailers and we can sell it to product manufactures or into concentrate. Our grow is not very large but it’ll be pretty much a craft cannabis compared to most.”
The commercial operation is designed to be self-sustaining to control quality from seed to sale.
Derleth: “Everything that we do should be self-sustaining and kind of go in a circle so, it won’t be called organic, the law doesn’t allow us to call it that, but it will be all natural. We’re not using any pesticides, we’re not using any heavy chemicals, so the testing that we will go through will of course show that we have none of those in it. We’ll be able to sell it out of here and control the quality from the sprout all the way through the packaging and the sale itself. In the other States they’re not allow to do that so we’re able to have a complete vertical integration and control the quality of our product from seed to sale.”
Opening day for Red Run Cannabis Company is scheduled for Monday at noon. Regular operating hours will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
