Christmas Comes To Kenai Highlighted By Santa & Fireworks

Author: KSRM News Desk |

The annual Christmas Comes To Kenai will feature activities for children and adults, a visit from Santa and an evening bonfire and fireworks display.

Johna Beech, President and COO of the Kenai Chamber of Commerce, describes the early activities and the arrival of Santa.

Johna Beech: “Friday, November 25th we will be having our 30-something annual Christmas comes to Kenai.  The Kenai Fine Arts Guild and the craft fair at Kenai Central High School and there’s also another crafts fair going on at the Challenger Center, they started a few years ago.  So that’s at 10:00 a.m.  At 11:00 a.m., here at the Kenai Visitor’s Center we’ll have Santa arriving via the City of Kenai fire truck.  So he’ll be here for photos; usually he’s here until about 1:30 or 2:00 and we’ll be giving away hot cocoa from McDonald’s and cookies, candy canes and grab bags for the kids.  The pictures are free if you chose to have your photo taken by our photographer or if you want to do the i-Phone thing you’re welcome to do that also.”

The evening activities open with an electric lights parade and fireworks.

Johna Beech:  “Then that evening at 6;00 p.m. we have our annual electric lights parade that starts at Spur View Road and will go along Frontage to the Visitor’s Center.  And we will have a bonfire manned by the Unocal retirees and we’ll have hot chocolate again donated by McDonald’s  and served by the Kenai Lions.  At 7:00 p.m. we have our grand finale’s fireworks and that is sponsored by Weaver Bros., Doyle’s Fuel Service and the City of Kenai and KSRM does the music to accompany the show.  Very, very excited for another year of Christmas Comes To Kenai.”

You can listen to music synchronized to the fireworks at 7 p.m. on Q 100 the Point, 100.1 FM, KKIS 96.5 FM, and the Fuse 106.9 FM.
