The Soldotna Stars recorded a 3-0 shutout of the Homer Mariners on Thursday at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex improving the Stars to 2-2-1 in North Star Conference hockey.
SoHi opened the scoring :58 seconds into the first period with a rebound goal for Matt Dougherty off a wrap-around shot by Ethan Brown. That proved to be the only goal until Brown and Dougherty hooked-up again midway through the third period; Dougherty scoring his second goal and Brown recording his second assist at the 5:34 mark of the third period. Alex Montague added an unassisted goal just :40 seconds later for the Stars third goal. SoHi goalie Billy Yoder records a shutout in goal, turning away 21 shots; Homer goalie Hunter Warren faced 50 shots on the night.

The Stars are off until January 5th and 6th when SoHi will face Hutchison (from Fairbanks) in a pair of non-conference hockey contests at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.
