Ninilchik Boys & Nikolaevsk Girls Win Championship Games On Friday At Peninsula Conference Basketball Tournament

The 2017 Peninsula Conference Basketball Tournament, hosted at Homer High School, closed-out four days of competition on Saturday with the 2nd-Place games to determine the final 1A state qualifiers from the Peninsula Conference.

2nd Place Game Results

Ninilchik Girls 38 – Lumen Christi 24

The Wolverine girls downed Lumen 38-24 to advance to the 1A state tournament as the #2 seed from the Peninsula Conference.

Nikolaevsk Boys 60 – Birchwood 31

The Warrior boys qualify to the 1A state tournament with a 60-31 victory over Birchwood.

 

Friday Tournament Results

The 2017 Peninsula Conference Basketball Tournament, hosted at Homer High School, moved into its Championship Final on Friday.

The four-day basketball tournament features a double-elimination format with the boys and girls championship games scheduled for Friday night at Homer High School.  The double-back, 2nd Place games with be played on Saturday.  The top two teams advance to the ASAA 1A State Basketball Championships scheduled for March 15-18 at the Alaska Airlines Center on the campus of UAA.

Friday Championship Games

Ninilchik Boys 67 – Nikolaevsk 46

The Wolverine boys remain undefeated in 1A basketball and repeat as Peninsula Conference champions.  The Warrior boys play Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the 2nd place game for a slot in the 1A state basketball tournament.

Nikolaevsk Girls 33 – Ninilchik Girls 30  

The Warrior girls knock-off the #1 seed Ninilchik girls 33-30 after trailing most of the championship game on Friday night.  The Ninilchik girls play in the second place game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for a slot in the 1A state basketball tournament.

Nikolaevsk Boys 62 – Birchwood 38

…Kalenik Molodih scored 24 points for the Warriors.
