Boston Marathon Features 52 Alaska Finishers

The 121st Boston Marathon, contested through the Boston streets on Monday, featured 52 finishers from Alaska; 31 men and 21 women from the 49th state.

Kenyan runners topped the men’s and women’s races with Geoffrey Kirui and Edna Kiplagat winning the men’s and women’s divisions,  Kirui finished in 2:09.37 besting the United States’ Galen Rupp by 22 seconds.  Kiplagat completed the course in 2:21.52.

Ryan Beckett (31) from Anchorage, grew up in Soldotna, and placed 543 overall and 407  in his division; 4774 finished in the men’s 18-39 division.  Ryan finished the course in 2:49.27.

Nearly 26,500 athletes completed the 26.2 mile Boston Marathon course.
