A preview of future success was on display at the Kenai Invitational Track and Field Meet with early season competition for 20 teams, including all peninsula programs.
Kenai Invitational Results: Girls
The Kenai Kardinal girls amassed 120 points for the girls championship, followed by Soldotna and Colony.
Katie Kilfoyle and Abby Beck lead the Kardinals with double, individual event victories.
Kilfoyle won both the 100M and 300M hurdles races, posting top-five times on the Alaska state-best lists in both events. Kilfoyle also placed first with the Kenai girls 4x100M relay team.
Abby Beck threw for victories in both the Discus and Shot Put events; recording the top distances in the state in both events with a 35’3″ in the Shot and a 123’9″ in the Discus.

Kenai Invitational Results: Boys
The Colony Knights, on the strength of three, first place finishes by jumper Brandon Nicholson, out-pointed Kodiak and Soldotna for the boys championship.
Anchorage Christian School’s Blake Bennett swept the distance races winning the 800M, 1600M and 3200M runs.
Cook Inlet Academy’s Noah Leaf raced to victories in both the 110M Hurdles and the 300M Hurdles, posting the state-best time in the 300M Hurdles and second-fastest time in the 110M Hurdles (SoHi’s Abe Van Hout recorded a 15:88 in the preliminaries on Friday).
