Stars Battle In Three Sports On Same Tuesday Night

The Soldotna Stars athletic programs were put on display on Tuesday with the soccer, softball and baseball teams all in action at basically the same time.

 

Soccer

SoHi Boys 9 – Nikiski 0

The Soldotna boys scored three, first half goals and added six goal in the second half for a 9-0 shutout of the Bulldogs.  Eli Sheridan, Luke Trammell and Alex Montague each scored a pair of goals.  Single goals were recorded by Gavin Goggia and Braden Lemm.

SoHi Girls 6 – Nikiski 0

The Star girls downed Nikiski 6-0 on the strength of a four-goal effort by Abi Tuttle.  Trinity Ames and Cameron Blackwell added single goals.

 

Softball

SoHi Girls 7 – Homer 15

The SoHi girls built a 7-1 lead only to fall 15-7 to the Homer Mariners.  SoHi’s Taylor Earll recorded a pair of RBI and a pair of hits to lead the Stars.  SoHi pitcher Danielle Hills surrendered 13 runs on 12 hits and seven walks in under five complete innings.

 

Baseball

SoHi Boys 6 – Homer 1

SoHi baseball opened the season with a 6-1 victory against Homer on the Stars’ home field on Tuesday.  Matthew Daugherty pitched five innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits while striking out six batters.  Daugherty also 2 for 3 from the plate with two RBI. Cody Quelland recorded three hits.  SoHi lead 5-0 after three innings; Homer scored their lone run in the fifth inning.
