Kenai Baseball Clinches SCC: SoHi Drops Final Game In Kodiak

Without throwing a single pitch over the weekend, The Kenai Kardinal baseball team clinched the Southcentral Conference regular season title and the top seed into the Southcentral Conference baseball tournament.

Kenai, with a 7-3 conference record, earns the top seed; followed by SoHi (6-4), losers on Friday in Kodiak.

 

SoHi 8 – Kodiak 9

The Soldotna baseball team let Friday’s Kodiak game and the SCC number one seed slip away; as SoHi allowed five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to the Kodiak Bears with Kodiak recording a 9-8 walk-off victory over the Stars.  The Stars were in control late in the contest with an 8-4 lead into the final half inning.  Kodiak scored five runs powered by a bases-clearing triple by Kodiak with one out.  SoHi starter Cody Quelland went six innings, allowing five runs, six walks and recording five five strikeouts.  Caleb Spence is tagged with the loss allowing four runs, two earned, in 2/3 innings.

SoHi will be the #2 seed into the Southcentral Conference baseball tournament which opens play Thursday, May 25th in Palmer.
