Katelin Richards Tops Field At AGA Alaska State Match Play Tournament

Katelin Richards, age 15 of Soldotna, earned the Alaska AGA State Match Play championship defeating the field in two days of competition at the Palmer Golf Course on Friday and Saturday.  Anika Richards, age 13, qualified to the final four and competed in one of two finals matches on Friday.

 

The tournament consisted of 72 holes of golf over the two-day tournament, Friday and Saturday.  The Richards girls competed in the open women’s division.

 

Friday Golf Results

Katelin shot a 75 gross, 67 net; which advanced her to the #1 seed into Friday’s head-to-head matches.  Anika shot gross 83, net 72; good for the #3 seed on for Friday’s second round.

Katelin won her head-to-head match 16-4; advancing to Saturday’s championship final.

Anika fell in her match play round, closed-out on the 17th hole.

 

Saturday Golf Results

Katelin Richards won both the Gross and the Net Championship trophies; winning her final pairing with a 35-foot putt.
