An Anchorage store clerk who fired at a suspected thief will be charged with reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm.
Anchorage police say the 22-year-old clerk, who is not in custody, fired once Wednesday night at a man who ran out of Smoker’s Choice with a carton of cigarettes.
Police say there is no indication the suspected thief was armed.
No one was hit by the gunshot. Police are seeking the man with the cigarettes.
Police describe the suspected thief as a skinny man in his 20s, 5-foot-8, with dirty blond hair and scruffy facial hair. He wore a white zip-up hooded sweat shirt with black sleeves over a black tank top, khaki cargo shorts and white, low-top tennis shoes.
Smoker’s Choice is part of a Minnesota Drive mini-mall.
