Oilers Split Doubleheader With Pilots; Travel To Valley For Mat-Su Series

The Peninsula Oilers and Anchorage Glacier Pilots faced-off in a doubleheader on Thursday at Mulcahy Park; game one a rescheduled, rained-out contest from two weeks back, and game two the scheduled pairing.

 

Oilers 5 – Pilots 4  Game One

The Oilers scored a single run in the third inning and a solo home run by Nathan Webb in the fourth inning tied the score at 2-2 with the Pilots.  The Oilers opened a three run lead with a three-run fifth inning.  Trent Paddon recorded a strike out with a Pilot runner on second to close the game.  Joey Becher, of Soldotna, started the game on the mound and recorded four innings, allowing three runs and six hits.  Final Score: Oilers 5 – Pilots 4.

 

Pilots 2 – Oilers 0   Game Two

The Oilers managed only one hit in seven innings in a 2-0 loss to the Pilots.

 

Oilers Road Schedule

The Oilers travel to Palmer for a pair of games against the Mat-Su Miners.

Friday’s game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.; Saturday is also scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. first pitch.
