The Peninsula Oilers earn the fourth and final position into the 2017 ABL Top of the World Series with a 5-1 victory over the Anchorage Glacier Pilots on Monday night in the regular season finale’.

The Oilers, as the #4 seed, will face the #1 Mat-Su Miners at Herman Brothers Field in a best 2 of 3, first-round series. The first game is scheduled for Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in Palmer. Thursday’s game two is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and the “if necessary” third game will follow Thursday night.
The Anchorage Bucs, #2 seed, and the Anchorage Glacier Pilots, #3 seed, will open their best 2 of 3 series on Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. game.

The Oilers struck early with two runs in the top of the first inning, added two runs in the fourth and a single run in the fifth on their way to a 5-1 win over the Pilots and a spot in the ABL end of the year tournament.
The Oilers scored both first inning runs after two outs, the first on an RBI triple by Benny Wanger; and scored two runs in the fourth on four, straight singles.
Raymond Kerr earns the win, throwing three innings and allowing one run. Infielder Nathan Webb closed on the mound pitching two innings and striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth.
