First place in the Peninsula Conference, with only two weeks remaining in the regular season, belongs to the Homer Mariners following a 38-0 shutout of the Nikiski Bulldogs on Saturday in conference action.

Nikiski, riding a three-game win streak, was held scoreless by the Mariners and Homer improves to 2-0 in the Peninsula Conference, winners of five straight games.
The Mariners amassed 453 yards and held the Bulldogs to 160 yards. Homer quarterback Teddy Craft threw for three scores and rushed for another touchdown. Craft lead the Mariners with 140 rushing yards to go with 185 passing yards.
Nikiski, 2-1 in the conference, will host Eielson on Friday, September 22 with a 4:00 p.m. Friday night contest. Eielson leads the Aurora Conference in Division III football.
