The Soldotna Stars advance for a shot at a sixth, straight Division II (Medium School) football championship; The Homer Mariners advance to their first Division III (Small School) football championship game; and for the first time the Division III football championship will not include either Nikiski or Eielson.
Saturday Playoff Game Results: Division II
SoHi 35 – North Pole 12
The Stars rushed for over 300 yards and five rushing touchdowns for a 35-12 victory over North Pole in a rematch of the 2016 playoffs. SoHi advances to the Division II championship game to face Palmer; the Stars have qualified to every Medium School football championship game since 2011. Brenner Furlong lead the Stars attack with four rushing touchdowns and over 180 yards rushing.
Palmer 28 – Thunder Mountain 7
The Palmer Moose advance to the Division II football championship for a second, consecutive year with a 28-7 victory over Thunder Mountain.
Saturday Playoff Game Results: Division III
Barrow 21 – Nikiski 6
The Nikiski Bulldogs were eliminated from the Division III (Small Schoool) football playoffs falling to Barrow 21-6 in Utqiagvik on Saturday.
Homer 33 – Eielson 21
The Homer Mariners held-off Eielson 33-21 on Saturday in Homer, qualifying the Mariners to the Division III football championship game on Saturday, October 14th at Palmer High School.
