Kards & Stars Faceoff Saturday At Peninsula Ice Challenge

The Kenai Kardinals and Soldotna Stars enter the final game of the 2017 Peninsula Ice Challenge hockey tournament looking for their first victory of the season; one will be rewarded Saturday afternoon in the final game of the round-robin tournament.

 

The Stars and Kards drop the puck in the 4 p.m. game at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.  Service and Monroe play for the tournament trophy at 1:30 p.m.

Friday Game Results

Monroe 8 – Kenai 1

The Monroe Rams defeat Kenai 8-1 on the strength on a six-goal, second period.  Nate Bieser scored late in the third period for the Kardinals only goal.

Service 9 – SoHi 2

The Stars started strong but faded in a 9-2 victory for Service.  SoHi and Service were tied at 1-1 late in the first period; however, the Stars twice allowed four goal runs by the Cougars.

SoHi goals included a power play goal for Alex Montague assisted by Galen Brantley III, and a Brantley goal assisted by Braxton Urban and Montague.
