SoHi’s Juliussen Wins Silver In 50 Freestyle

Swimmers and divers from throughout the state competed for two days at the Bartlett Pool at the 2017 ASAA State Swimming & Diving Championships.

 

Soldotna High: Meet Results

Soldotna swimmer Sydney Juliussen recorded a personal best, silver medal finish in the 50 freestyle at the 2017 ASAA State Swimming & Diving Championships guiding the SoHi girls swim team to a sixth-place team finish overall.  Juliussen posted a time of 24.74, just .14 seconds from the top spot on the awards podium.  Juliussen added a fifth place in the 100 freestyle in 54.88.

Katie Creglow placed seventh in the 100 breaststroke.

The SoHi girls earned a third in the 400 freestyle relay (1) Padilla, Portia 2) Abouelkheir, Zeina 3) Juliussen, Alex 4) Juliussen, Sydney) ; sixth in the 200 Medley relay (1) McMillan, Darby 2) Creglow, Katie 3) Padilla, Portia 4) Juliussen, Sydney).

SoHi’s Kylin Welch earned 436.85 points in the boys  1M diving event, good for a second-straight, fourth place finish for Welch at the state meet.

 

Kenai High: Meet Results

Kenai’s Savaii Heaven placed third in the boys 100 backstroke, the top Kenai finish at the state meet.  Heaven also place sixth in the 100 freestyle final.   Hunter Reese added a fifth in the 50 freestyle and a seventh in the 100 butterfly. The Kardinal boys added a third in the 200 Medley Relay (1) Heaven, Savaii 2) Bagley, Trevor 3) Rolph, Owen 4) Reese, Hunter).

The Kardinal boys placed sixth overall in the state meet team scoring.
