Nikiski Girls Hold-Off Kotzebue To Advance To 4th Place Game Saturday

The Nikiski Bulldog girls, behind a 31-point effort by junior Bethany Carstens, defeated Kotzebue 48-43 in Friday’s consolation semi-final at the ASAA 3A Girls State Basketball Championships at the Alaska Airlines Center at UAA.

The Nikiski girls lead throughout Friday’s contest with Kotzebue taming the Huskies 48-43.  The victory advances the Buldogs to the 4th-Place game on Saturday.

The Bulldogs bounced back from Thursday’s loss to Barrow behind 31 points and 13 rebounds recorded by Bethany Carstens.  Nikiski built a 12-point lead 40-28 after three quarters; then held-off a late Huskies charge.

 

The Bulldogs will face Galena in the 8:00 a.m. game at the Wells Fargo Center on the campus of UAA.
