Baseball & Softball Conference Tournament Play Continues

The Southcentral Conference baseball tournament and the Northern Lights Conference softball tournament are both double-elimination format, three-day tournament’s with the top two teams advancing to the ASAA State Baseball Championships and ASAA State Division II Softball Championships.

 

Southcentral Conference Baseball Tournament @ Homer 

The Palmer Moose defeated the Colony Knights 10-7 in the SCC championship game on Friday in Homer.

Palmer earns the #1 seed from the Southcentral Conference to the ASAA State Baseball Tournament.

The SoHi boys are eliminated, falling to Grace 11-1.

Thursday Game Results

SoHi 5 – Colony 17

The Soldotna Boys dropped their tournament opener 17-5 to the Colony Knights on Thursday at the Southcentral Conference Baseball Tournament in Homer.

Colony scored 17 runs including a 6-run, second inning and a 7-run, fourth inning in the run-rule, five inning contest.  SoHi starter Jeremy Kupferschmid allowed 13 runs (nine earned) in three innings and reliever Cody Quelland surrendered four runs in 2/3 of an inning.

SoHi continues tournament play on Friday with a 10 a.m. elimination game against Houston.

Kenai eliminated with two losses on Thursday

Northern Lights Conference Softball Tournament @ Kodiak

In the opening round of the Northern Lights Conference softball tournament, a double-elimination format, the Soldotna Stars split a pair of contests and the Kenai girls also recorded a win and a loss.  Homer and Kodiak advance to the winner’s bracket; Houston drops two games and is eliminated.

Kodiak 19 – SoHi 2  (4 innings)

The higher seeded Stars struggled in game one and fell to #3 Kodiak 19-2, dropping the Stars to the playback bracket.

Kenai 18 – Houston 10  (5 innings)

Kenai offense plated 18 runs and recorded a run-rule 18-10 victory over Houston.

Homer 16 – Kenai 1  (3 innings)

The Homer Mariners took advantage of Kenai pitching, scoring 13 first inning runs.

SoHi 14 – Houston 2  (4 innings)

The Star girls stay alive with a 14-2 win over Houston which eliminated the Hawks.
