The Peninsula Oilers closed out their 10-game road trip with a 7-5 loss against the Mat-Su Miners at Hermon Brothers Field on Friday. The loss drops the Oilers to 19-19, 4.5 games behind the Miners for the top spot in the Alaska Baseball League standings, and a game behind the Anchorage Bucs for second place. The Miners improved to 23-14.

The Miners erupted for three runs against Oilers starter Tevin Murray in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-0 lead.
The Miners scored a pair of runs in the second to increase their lead to 5-0.
The Oilers tallied their first run in the third inning on a Zack Zalesky RBI double, plating Bryce Begell who reached on a single.
The Miners responded with another run in the bottom of the third inning on a lead-off home run by Tyler Bosetti.
Murray’s outing finished after three innings, a season low for innings pitched for the Oilers lefthander.
Following a scoreless fourth inning, the Oilers struck for three runs in the fifth against Miners starter Jonathan Guardado; RBI singles by Zack Zalesky, Chad Bible and Grant Wood cut the Miners lead to 6-4.
The Miners scored their final run in the bottom of the fifth on a Caleb Van Blake RBI double.
A Michael Yourg RBI single in the seventh plated the Oilers fifth run, which brought the score to 7-5.
The Oilers rallied in the ninth, but left the tying man on base when Bible flew out to center field to end the game.
Oilers Final Home Stand Begins Tuesday Against Anchorage Glacier Pilots
The Oilers close out their 2018 ABL regular season schedule against the Anchorage Glacier Pilots on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.
The series runs through Saturday, with a double-header on Friday beginning at 4 p.m.
