Area Volleyball Teams Fair Well At Lady Grizzlies Invitational

The Soldotna Stars volleyball team advanced to the Platinum Bracket and finished second at the Lady Grizzlies Volleyball Tournament at Grace Christian School.

 

Soldotna finished pool play 3-1 and advanced to the highest bracket for Saturday’s action.  SoHi fell to Palmer for the Platinum Bracket title.

Holleigh Jaime was named defensive player of the tournament and Itu Tuasaula was named to the all-tournament team.

 

The Nikiski Bulldogs, following Friday pool play, played in the Gold Bracket with the Bulldogs finishing second to Eagle River.  Kaitlyn Johnson was named best setter and named to the all-tournament team.

 

The Kenai Kardinals played out the tournament on Saturday in the Silver Bracket and failed to record a win.

 

Kenai Volleyball Sponsors Cancer Fundraiser 

The Kenai Kardinals will host the annual Killing Cancer on the Kenai volleyball event on Thursday, October 11th at KCHS.  The event begins with fundraising activities starting at 3 p.m. and running through 7 p.m. during the Kenai vs Nikiski volleyball games.  The event includes silent auction, soup feed, balloon pop and competition between the local fire departments and football players.

All proceeds will go to the Central Peninsula Health Foundation with funds to benefit local families struggling to deal with cancer.
